New Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois ID Cards

If you have not received a new Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois ID card, you  should be  receiving one within the next few days. The new ID card will have a new Group Number but your personal Identification Number should remain the same. This mailing is due to the fact that we have changed plans for both the active and retired participants effective January 1, 2012. You may continue using your existing ID card until your new card arrives. Do not be alarmed if, for a short period of time, a provider may tell you that your insurance has been terminated. Yes, your coverage under the current plans is terminated effective December 31, 2011. Make sure you show the doctor your new card as the Group Number has changed. 


Note that if you have a 2011 debit card from healthflex for medical reimbursement, KEEP THAT CARD, it will just be loaded with your dollar amount for 2012.
