Thanks – Celebrate – and a Call to a Renewed Commitment
Dear people of the churches of the York District – Thank you for what you have accomplished these past few years, raising funds for the Bishop’s Partners in Mission (BPIM). BPIM serves two areas of need: Imagine No Malaria and Mission Central. As of December 31, 2016, the York District churches had raised $ 69, 659.21! for Bishop's Partners in Mission (BPIM). Praise be to God! That means, divided equally between the two causes, each received almost $35,000 just from the churches in the York district! Whether you or your church gave $50 or $15,000 or somewhere in-between, your generosity means that collectively you protected some 3,500 lives from the killer disease of malaria. It also means that you reduced the debt burden of Mission Centra and thereby enabled Mission Central to focus on its mission of providing God’s resources to people in need. That is cause to celebrate!
As a conference, we raised $561,320.83. Our overall goal is $2 million. We have just passed the 25% goal and so, if we are to advance significantly toward meeting our goal, we have to approach this cause with a renewed commitment and energy. What matters most is the meaning of what we do – saving lives and restoring hope.
In the next few weeks BPIM team members in the York District and I will be contacting pastors individually. We would be especially interested in talking with your missions committee chairs and lay leaders who have a heart for missions.
If you haven’t done so yet, I invite you to visit the BPIM web page at tinyurl.com/BishopsPIM. You will see photos of the members of my team – York District Ambassador Larry Speer and Local Ambassadors Pastor Lourdes Stevens and Rev. Richard Bowers. You will see photos of BPIM fund raising events and video messages. Once a month, we post a video message that has stories, useful tips and strategies as well as inspiration to the people and churches of the Susquehanna Conference. Please keep in mind that eventful days are coming around which you can build a fund raising campaign for BPIM. Some of those events are Palm Sunday, Easter, and World Malaria Day (April 25). For resources visit www.imaginenomalaria.org/resources and www.missioncentral.org.
Let’s give it all we’ve got this new year… knowing that what we do may be the difference between life and death for some and restoration of hope to all.
Contact me with your questions.
